I found the ending really satisfying, which isn't something that I can say very often. I'd actually disagree about the pacing - I thought the 2nd quarter dragged a tiny bit - but the writing and characterization was so good throughout that I was happy to keep reading for the pleasure of each sumptuous, apt description.
