Honeyed Words in the house

My most excellent editors have sent me an early present — two copies of my new book.  They don’t go on sale until July 5th, but I’ve had them in my hot little hands for a few days.  The artist, Dan Dos Santos did another excellent cover here, don’t you think?

I continue to find myself in excellent company.

And if this wasn’t enough crazy good news, Tor also sent me come cover flats that I’m going to give away to a few lucky readers.

So, for this week, comment on my blog, tell me what you liked about Black Blade Blues, and/or what you are looking forward to in Honeyed Words.   I’ll give away two this coming week (through July 2nd) and two the week of book launch.  Chime in if you want to have your very own copy of this book cover.

Then, on the 5th you can pick it up with the story inside and everything.  Of course, you can always pre-order it right now at your favorite online or brick-and-mortar outlet.  Support your local bookstores!

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention another book that’s coming out on the same day as Honeyed Words.

My Life as A White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland.  I gotta tell you, Diana is an awesome writer.  I love her Demon series, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this new one.  It looks like a rollicking read.

So, let’s go out and prove the economy is on the rise.  Buy some books, win some prizes, make a difference in the world.

Best of all, support new writers, so we keep bringing you top-notch entertainment (and dragons and zombies).

Hope to see some of you at my book signings.  Come out and visit.

  • What did I like most about Black Blade Blues? Apart from the kick-ass plotline and great characters, I think you showed that men can write characters who are lesbians without making them simply sexual fantasies. Sarah was as close to real as you can get with protagonists, and her insecurities resonated with me. So far, BBB is one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I truly mean that.

As for Honeyed Words, I’m really looking forward to the continuation of the story, and I’ve no idea where it’s going (I placed my pre-order and that was it), so I’m going to be nothing but surprised.

Oh, I’m in the UK if that’s alright.

  • I have to say what I appreciated most about Black Blade Blues was its refreshing new take on urban fantasy. While I love English and French mythology the stories of the Sidhe and Tolkinian wizards can get worn over time. Also the genre is often drawn into the patter of a fight or sex scene every chapter, I was very happy when BBB gave the characters a little time to grown in themselves rather than having their entire lives dominated the the supernatural happenings around them.

  • I think my favorite character so far has been the Odin character. A nice subtlety that is adds dimension to the story. Of course, I’ve also been a sucker for Santa Clause and St. Nicholas of Myra as well.

I loved pretty much everything about the book, including meeting the author :P I love the fact that Sarah is left handed, we lefties need more love. I am most definitely looking forward to getting my hands on my pre-ordered ship to home copy of Honeyed Words, and getting it signed on the 9th!

  • What I loved most was Sarah’s growth as a person throughout Black Blade Blues. I was hooked her by her self doubt and her struggles accepting her sexuality. I remember staying up past 2:00 in morning practically devouring each chapter because Sarah was not only a compelling character but her flaws gave her a sense of realism other novels seem to lack. It really felt like I could bump into her on the street. so now I can’t wait till Honeyed Words.
